Physical wellness is the ability to maintain a healthy quality of life that allows you to get through your daily activities without undue fatigue, physical stress, or preventable disease through consistent, healthy, lifestyle choices.

Meal Ideas

BYU Employee Wellness Cookbooks - to use, simply click on the link and select which dietary needs you have. You should be giving a selection of recipes that meet those needs. You can also submit a favorite recipe using the link at the top of the page.

Consultations

BYU Nutrition Wellness Consultations - to use, visit the link, select 'Nutrition and Wellness Consultation'. You will select the time that works best for you and enter your contact information. You will then show up to WSC 3326 for your appointment where you will have a 15-30 minute consultation with a Dietitian. All students and employees, regardless of gender, are welcome to make an appointment.

BYU Y Be Fit Lifestyle Coaching - to use, visit the website to learn more about the multi-week coaching program and the costs associated. When you are ready, you call the number at the top of the page to schedule your appointment and use the link on the page to make your payment. You will then meet with a coach over the course of several weeks to receive a full health assessment and analysis and a plan to improve your overall health.

Fitness Resources

BYU Exercise Facilities - to use, you will be required to obtain a Student Wellness wristband. These wristbands are free for full-time faculty and staff and their dependents, and have a small fee for part-time faculty and staff. Visit the website to learn more about wristband eligibility and fees. Once you have the wristband, you are welcome to use any facility during Open Play hours or go to the Faculty or Student gyms.

YFitness Classes - to use, you will be required to obtain a Student Wellness wristband. These wristbands are free for full-time faculty and staff and their dependents, and have a small fee for part-time faculty and staff. Visit the website to learn more about wristband eligibility and fees. Once you have the wristband, you are welcome to attend any of the YFitness classes. The schedule varies each semester and is generally posted during the first week of each new semester. Common classes include yoga, zumba, pilates, spin, and barre.

BYU SWELL Classes || Tuition Benefit - to use, you will be required to access your Tuition Benefit (visit the website to learn more). Once you are accepted into the university or receive clearance to take classes, you are welcome to register for SWELL classes. Regular registration rules apply. For example, you may have to get on a waitlist for popular classes.

BYU Intramural Sports (Faculty/staff can participate) - to use, you will have to visit the website and register for the sports you are interested in. Registration is available for single sports, meaning you do not have to find a team, you can register for team sports if you have a team of other BYU employees or students, or you can join the Free Agent list and be added to teams that need more players.

Workout Ideas - to use, simply click on the link, select which option is most relevant or appealing to you, and following along with the included videos or written walk-throughs of a variety of exercises.

Rentals and Equipment

BYU Bike Website - if you want to ride a bike (or other rideable) to or on campus, visit the website to learn important safety guidelines, recommended routes, and maintenance and storage locations across campus.

BYU Outdoors Unlimited Equipment Rental - if you want to do an active activity that requires gear, BYU Outdoors Unlimited has the cheapest rental prices in the county for equipment like skis, bikes, tents, paddleboards, rock climbing shoes and harnesses, yard games, and more. You can take care of all reservation details on the website.

Talent Development Engagement Item Library - if you team wants to do an activity together, you can you borrow many items, including many popular yard games, from our library! Simply click on the link and follow the instructions on the page.

Discounts

Provo Rec Center - you can get a 25% discount on Provo Rec Center 6-month or annual memberships with proof of employment at BYU. If you have questions, you can call the number on their website. You can also just show up to the Rec Center with your ID card and sign up there.

Orem Rec Center - BYU employees can receive 20% an annual membership fee with proof of employment (ID card works) at the front desk.

YogaSix Orem - you can receive 40% off the monthly unlimited membership by using the BYU discount code.

XRNutrition - you can receive 20% off all purchases at XR nutrition. You will need to call their customer service team to learn more.

dbWellness Nutrition Coaching - you can receive 25% services by providing proof of employment.

Total Health and Fitness - you may receive 10% off services to meet with consultants who are both registered dietitians and personal trainers. A larger discount may be available if you sign up as a couple, and they accept HSA and FSA cards. You will need to email Kaylee@totalhealthandfitness.com with further inquiries.

Utah Valley Optometric Physicians - receive 25% off purchase of glasses by showing your BYU ID.

Rhea Women's Health - if you are interested in a self-care program for moms that are up to 12 months postpartum, you can get $50 off with the provided discount code. The program includes 5 90-minute classes, a workbook, and 12 months of ongoing support from a local female health specialist.

Warren Orthodontics - you can receive a free upgrade to BYU brackets and $300 off comprehensive treatment. The offer is for new patients only and you have to call to schedule your consultation and receive the discount.

Physical Safety

Employee Health and Safety Programs - if you want to receive training on a variety of different topics, or ensure you team gets trained on these topics, you can contact Risk Management to participate. These are generally longer-duration trainings and are completed over many sessions.

Employee Safety Awards - you can award or receive an award, ranging from a candy bar to a cash prize, for your efforts to keep campus safe. Visit the website to learn more and to submit a nomination.

Supervisor Safety Resources - this is a basic, 10-minute training for supervisors to help them know how to keep their workplaces safe. It is completed fully online.

Employee Safety Trainings - if you want to make sure you or your employees become certified or attend single-session trainings, you can join a cohort or invite Risk Management to present in your workplace. Visit the website to learn more.
