“How do we change the world? One small act of kindness at a time." - Morgan Freeman

Let's inspire positive change on campus through random acts of kindness! There are many things we can do to show more kindness to those around us. Here is a simple list of ideas to get us started. Kindness starts with ONE — One smile, one hug, one act, one person. In a world where we can choose to be anything, let us choose to be kind!

  • Compliment three people you talk to today.
  • Post an inspirational sticky note somewhere in your office, school, home, etc.
  • Praise someone behind their back - or let their supervisor know about their wonderful work.
  • Say hi to the person next to you on the elevator or the person next to you in line.
  • Send a thank you note to your vendors or to people who help make your job easier.
  • Have a LinkedIn account? Write a recommendation for coworker or connection.
  • Learn the names of your office security guard, the person at the front desk, and other people you see every day. Greet them by name.
  • Find opportunities to give genuine compliments. It costs nothing and could make someone’s entire day.
  • Try to make sure every person in a group conversation feels included.
  • Say "hello" and smile at five strangers you pass.
  • Write a positive comment on your favorite blog, website, or friend's social media account.
  • Practice self-kindness and spend 20 minutes doing something you enjoy.
  • Celebrate someone else's success.
  • If you see litter on the ground, pick it up and throw it in the trash.
  • Send a positive text message to five different people.
  • Set an alarm on your phone to go off at various times during the day. In those moments, do something kind for someone else.
  • Have lunch with someone who needs a friend.
  • Look for the good in others, especially in those with whom you have had challenges.
  • Share treats with the people in your office or department.
