Bike to Work Day

Thursday, May 2, 2024 - RB Quad
Wednesday, May 8, 2024 - Cougar Crossing Quad
For active faculty, staff, and administrators

About

BYU Employee Wellness is hosting a stop as part of Provo City's Bike to Work Day so that BYU employees can participate. Bike tune-ups will be provided for active BYU faculty and staff by Outdoors Unlimited, who is generously waiving the $40 fee for the tune-up to encourage more employees to get outside. Please read below to see how you can get a free bike tune-up.

To make these tune-ups more accessible to BYU faculty, admin, and staff, they will be offered on two separate days:

  • Thursday, May 2nd @ RB Quad (between the RB and SF)
  • Wednesday, May 8th @ Cougar Crossing Quad (between the WSC, CB, and CTB)

What is Provo’s BikeWalk Program?

Every year, Provo's BikeWalk program hosts the Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day, which is a day to celebrate getting around Provo with healthy, sustainable methods of transportation. Throughout Provo there will be many stations where you can stop by on your bike to pick up breakfast foods, enter raffles for prizes or giveaways, and enjoy fun music and a healthy atmosphere. Provo City Center's stop will be open at 7:00 am for early bird riders.

Bike Tune-up Eligibility:

Please read the following thoroughly to know how you can get a free tune-up. Each active BYU faculty or staff member will be able to get ONE free tune-up. Employees will need to provide their own bike lock and their employee ID in order to leave a bike for a tune-up.

Breakfast will be provided for employees who visit the booth. If employees are unable to bring their bike but still want a bike tune-up, drop by our booth anyway to pick up a discount voucher so you can drop off your bike at Outdoors Unlimited after the event.

What is a Bike Tune-Up?

The bike tune-up involves a basic safety inspection and minor maintenance of the tubes/tires, brake pads, brake system, shift, chain, headset, bottom bracket, front hub, rear hub, wheel true, suspension, drive train, and gear cluster. Our mechanics will also include a list of recommended repairs needed to maximize safety and rideability, but the employee will be responsible to acquire those repairs themselves outside of the Bike to Work event.
