  • Wellness Presentations
    The wellness department has a variety of presentations they can do for your department such as easy healthy meals, resistance band training, chronic disease prevention, green smoothie demonstration, and more.
  • Equipment Checkout Library
    The Wellness Program has a lot of resources that you can use for sport and recreation such as 9-squares, bocce ball, volleyball, badminton, and much more.
  • Health Challenges 
    The wellness website has a variety of health challenges that you can choose from. These are a fun way to promote well-being with your department. 
  • BYU Fitness Classes
    Fitness classes available to faculty and staff with a waiver and a wristband from 112 RB. Contact them to find out more details for who is eligible.
  • Wellness Articles
    The wellness website has a variety of articles about wellness that you can use for department newsletters, etc.
  • Recipes
    You'll want to check out all the healthy recipes on the BYU Wellness website.
  • Y Be Fit
    Y Be Fit offers individualized lifestyle coaching along with comprehensive fitness and health assessments.
  • Schedule an Exercise Presentation
    Email the wellness coordinators to give a short presentation in your department such as: resistance band strength training, stretching, and weight training without equipment. 
  • Start a Walking Group
    Start a walking group that takes regular walks together at specific times throughout the day or week. Or you could do a one-time noon-hour walk to either of the Provo temples. 
  • Host a Daily or Weekly Stretch Break
    Share a 10-minute stretching or do a short/yoga video together. 
  • Host a Tour to See All the Fitness Facility on Campus
    Present or tour the fitness facilities available to BYU staff. Wellness coordinators are happy to help guide the tour! 
  • Promote BYU Fitness Classes, Fun Walks, or Other Events
    Share details about the free fitness classes BYU offers to staff, faculty, and spouses, and other Wellness events or invite co-workers to attend them together with you. 
    • Create a Department Intramural Team
      Create a team from your department to participate in an intramural sport that BYU offers.
      • Checkout Recreational Item from the HRD/Wellness Library
        Check out an outdoor game to play with your department. Options may include: bocce ball, cornhole, croquet, giant spoon/egg relay, ladder ball, 9 square, spikeball, parachutes, scoop catchers, badminton, speed-minton, volleyball, outdoor chess, horseshoes, pickleball, 4 square, compass activity, etc.
      • Have People Share their Favorite Hikes, Bike Trails, Geo-Cashing Leads 
        Find a format for everyone to share their favorite outdoor activities with each other. You could make a list of popular apps like AllTrails or The Hiking Project. 
      • Do a Biking, Hiking, Snowshoeing, or Geo-Cashing Activity Together
        Do a department bike-to-work day, go on a hike, or have a geo-cashing adventure on a Saturday morning for all who want to participate.  Check out Outdoors Unlimited if you need supplies.

        • When Serving Food Always Include a Healthy Option 
          It is important to include a healthy option for employees whenever you host a department meal or refreshment table.  
        • Schedule a Nutrition Presentation  
          Schedule the wellness coordinators to give a short presentation in your department. Our nutrition presentations include grain bar, green smoothie, easy healthy meals, and healthy cooking substitutions. Or you could teach a class of your own.  
        • Hold a Healthy Recipe Swap 
          Invite coworkers to share their favorite healthy recipe on a shared document or slack channel. 
        • Host a Nutrition Challenge 
          Implement a challenge from the toolbox such as: 50 fruits and veggies, better breakfast, drop pop, fruit punch challenge, hydration motivation, whole grains. These usually last up to two weeks. 
        • Share Nutrition Tips 
          Share nutrition tips, healthy recipes, links, or information via an email or newsletter or at the start of department meetings. Find healthy recipes under the Nutrition tab on this page. (BYU Cookbooks)
        • Hold a Healthy Snack Potluck or Taste Test Day 
          Organize a day or a week and invite everyone to bring a healthy snack to share such as clementines, multi-grain chips, nuts, dried fruit, and light popcorn. Or have people make a healthy recipe or snack and bring it for coworkers to taste test. You could even bring in different flavors of water infused with citrus, berries, cucumber, or mint for people to try. 
          • Check out Blood Pressure Cuffs 
            Check out the blood pressure cuffs from the wellness office for department use. You could also use this blood pressure worksheet to promote awareness. The wellness department also has a blood pressure presentation you could schedule.
          • Hold a Book Club on the Culprit and the Cure Book
            BYU Wellness has a few books you can check out. They also have a presentation that goes along with the book that you can give or schedule to have given by a wellness coordinator.
          • Do a Health Risk Prevention Challenge 
            Initiate a challenge from the toolbox such as: heart healthy, sleep, hydration. 
          • Promote Wellness Clinics and the Living Well Classes When they Happen
            Promote the BYU Wellness clinics when they happen such as: mammograms, flu shots, or immunization.
          • Share Health Risk Prevention Tips 
            Share health risk prevention tips and information via an email or newsletter or at the start of department meetings.
